สถานทูตออสเตรเลียประจำประเทศไทย และอาร์ต วิคเทอเรีย (Arts Victoria) ขอเชิญผู้สนใจศิลปะชมนิทรรศการ The Hacienda Must be Built ผลงานแอนิเมชั่นและภาพเคลื่อนไหวโดยศิลปินออสเตรเลีย อาร์โล เมาท์ฟอร์ด (Arlo Mountford) ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นเป็นครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย ที่หอศิลปวิทยนิทรรศน์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย ระหว่างวันที่ 21 เมษายน ถึงวันที่ 30 พฤษภาคม 2552 นี้

อาร์โล เมาท์ฟอร์ด จบการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีด้านวิจิตรศิลป์ จาก Victoria College of the Arts หลังจากนั้นเขาได้แสดงนิทรรศการเดี่ยวและแสดงร่วมกับศิลปินท่านอื่นๆ อย่างต่อเนื่อง เขาได้รับรางวัลศิลปินดาวรุ่ง ABN AMRO Emerging Artist Award อันทรงเกียรติในปีพ.ศ. 2550 และเสร็จสิ้นการเป็นศิลปินในพำนักที่สถาบันแฟรงค์ มอทร์ (Frank Mohr) ในประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์เมื่อเร็วๆ นี้

นิทรรศการที่จัดขึ้นที่กรุงเทพฯ ครั้งนี้ จะเป็นการแสดงผลงานเดี่ยวครั้งที่เก้า และเป็นการแสดงผลงานในต่างประเทศเป็นครั้งแรกของอาร์โล ซึ่งจะประกอบด้วยผลงานแอนิเมชั่นชุดสำคัญสองชุด ชื่อ Return to Point (2006) และ STAND UP… (2007) นอกจากนี้เขาจะนำเสนอผลงานใหม่ล่าสุด Return to Form: NDINAVIA ซึ่งเป็นหนังสั้นที่ถ่ายทำขึ้นที่เมืองเวนิซ ประเทศอิตาลี และเทือกเขาวิคตอเรีย แอลป์ ในประเทศออสเตรเลียอีกด้วย

ความสนใจใคร่รู้ในเรื่องศิลปะและการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานของศิลปินแห่งทศวรรษที่ 20 เป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการสร้างผลงานในนิทรรศการนี้ ศิลปินได้นำภาพสัญลักษณ์ต่างๆ ที่ผู้คนคุ้นเคยมานำเสนอเป็นเรื่องราวในรูปแบบใหม่ที่หยอกล้อ สำรวจ และตั้งคำถามถึงความสำคัญของสัญลักษณ์เหล่านั้น เพื่อแสดงให้เห็นถึงคุณค่าของศิลปะร่วมสมัย ซึ่งผู้ชมจะได้รับทั้งความรู้และความบันเทิงจากภาพเคลื่อนไหวที่น่าตื่นตาตื่นใจในนิทรรศการนี้

อาร์โล เมาท์ฟอร์ด จะเดินทางมากรุงเทพฯ เพื่อเปิดนิทรรศการในวันที่ 21 เมษายน โดยในวันนั้นจะมีบรรยายพิเศษเกี่ยวกับการทำงานของศิลปิน เวลา 16.00 น. และมีพิธีเปิด เวลา 18.30 น. ผู้สนใจเข้าฟังการบรรยาย กรุณาสำรองที่นั่งและสอบถามข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมที่ 02-218 2965

Take-Turn

100 Tonson Gallery presents “Take-Turn”, solo exhibition by an outstanding young Thai artist, Prateep Suthathongthai

Prateep Suthathongthai uniquely plays out his creativity through the process of shooting, sequencing and displaying negative and positive film with the maintenance of the original record of the films. Photography records actual existence and the artist displays these existences through the negative as well as positive without changing the sequence of his shooting and without touch up. The meticulous process requires some twenty rolls of film to result in each piece of work.

Often times, we see photography presenting realistic image; Prateep has his own spectacular way to collect realistic/actual existence and re-tell it through his work of art. He concentrates on the complexity of what he records with the sense of discovery and exploration to retell in more meaningfully way.

“I take photo and turn around, walk up and down, and go to the same place time after time to look for undiscovered angles”, says Prateep. The artist works on this new series as a continuation from his previous negative film works which focused more on temples and Thai architecture. The new series include modern day construction, amphitheatre in larger scale with a display of large format slides on light box.

Happiness

100 Tonson Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening reception of “ Happiness” the latest solo exhibition by young Thai artist Pichaya Khunnawat on Thursday April 2, 2009 at 7 pm.

Pichaya has received very well responses from Thai and international audiences from his previous solo show Raw/Rare in 2007. He keeps continuing to reflect his perspective towards social environment through his paintings and drawings, acrylic on paper. His latest works have become more concrete and compassionate. As he has changed his life style and attitude for all kind of things around him in the past few years, Pichaya wants to express “Happiness” in the way that is factual and frank. “Human interaction” is the symbol he uses in his latest works to present the feeling and happy awareness in the different ways.

Furthermore, Pichaya has now joined his mural , conveys his attitude of ‘Happiness’, in Art of Campaign: Campaign for Art at Bangkok Art and Culture Center, Bangkok.


“If we keep asking ‘what the happiness is’, we can get a lot of answers. But if we ask again ‘what the real happiness is’, we might need to think about it for a while. Whatever the result of this question will be, it ‘s not more important than we take a moment to think with our mind, conscience and intellect…..” Artist
